Entertainer and social media personality Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has publicly criticized Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who represents Abia North, for wearing an outfit promoting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid.
Kalu attended the Senate plenary on Tuesday dressed in attire emblazoned with the slogan “Tinubu for President 2027,” a move he described as an “open endorsement” of the president’s re-election campaign.
“Can you see what I’m wearing? If you look at the dress I’m wearing, you will know what it is,” Kalu said to journalists at the National Assembly.
“This is the endorsement for president. My dress is perfectly tailored to that and the southeast caucus is fully in support,” he added.
The senator also noted that others had begun adopting the same campaign-themed outfit. “People are already wearing it; I’m not just the first person wearing it,” he said.
In reaction to Kalu’s outfit, Charly Boy shared the senator’s photo on Instagram and harshly condemned the gesture, calling it a display of excessive sycophancy.
“See dis clown. Some of these my yeye useless Igbo brothers have taken sycophancy to another level, It is a Tufiakwa situation. Dia Fathers. Criminals Everywhere. Can some one pls answer me,” Charly Boy wrote.
