Charles Okocha declared winner as Portable abandons celebrity boxing rematch mid-fight

Controversial singer, Portable, suffered a walkover defeat to actor Charles Okocha after abandoning their much-publicised celebrity boxing rematch during the opening round of the Chaos in the Ring event held at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The contest, tagged “Unfinished Business,” descended into disorder almost immediately as both celebrities abandoned conventional boxing and grappled on the canvas.

Efforts by the referee to restore order proved unsuccessful, forcing security personnel and bouncers to storm the ring and separate the pair after the altercation spiralled out of control.

Following the intervention, Portable shocked spectators by walking out of the ring before the bout could continue.

Match officials subsequently ruled that the singer had forfeited the contest and awarded Okocha victory by walkover.

The singer later returned to protest the decision, arguing that he deserved to be declared the winner because he had taken Okocha to the ground during the clash.

However, officials maintained their position, insisting that leaving the ring constituted forfeiture.

Okocha celebrated the victory with supporters after the announcement and immediately set his sights on another celebrity boxing contest, challenging comedian and reigning celebrity boxing star Carter Efe to face him in the ring.

The rematch had attracted widespread attention ahead of the event, reviving the rivalry between Okocha and Portable following the singer’s loss to Carter Efe earlier this year, a defeat that ended his unbeaten record in celebrity boxing.
