Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala, was on target as Barcelona Femini defeated Manchester City 3-0 in the first leg of their Women’s Champions League quarter-final match.
Man City goalkeeper, Ellie Roebuck, kept them in the game for much of the first half but was unable to stop Nigeria’s Oshoala in the 35th minute who beat her from range.
Barcelona went 2-0 up in the second half after Mariona Caldentey converted a penalty in the 53rd minute after beating Roebuck.
City were handed a lifeline just over three minutes later as the referee awarded them a penalty but Chloe Kelly’s effort was saved by Sandra Panos, denying City an away goal.
Barcelona’s top scorer Jennifer Hermoso came in as a sub and made the visitors pay for their missed opportunity as she scored her 21st goal of the season to make it 3-0 in the 86th minute of the game.
Barcelona head to England for the second leg with a three-goal advantage, leaving City with a mountain to climb.
