Champions League: Man Utd, PSG revenge first leg defeats to Başakşehir, RB Leipzig
Manchester United defeated İstanbul Başakşehir 4-1 at Old Trafford on Tuesday night to revenge the 2-1 away defeat in Turkey.
Bruno Fernandes put the home tea ahead in the 7th minute of the game with a super shot, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
The Portuguese made it 2-0 12 minutes later, giving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men the control though the away team look to chip in one.
Fernandes selflessly passed on the chance to bag his Champions League hattrick by leaving a penalty to Marcus Rashford who made it 3-0 in the 35th minute.
Deniz Türüç 75th minute freekick gave the away team a consolation but Daniel James 90+2′ goal restored United’s three-goal lead after a pass from Mason Greenwood.
Elsewhere, Paris Saint Germain restored their chances of qualifying for the next round of the tournament after defeating RB Leipzig 1-0 at the Parc De Princes.
Tuchel’s men suffered a 2-1 defeat in the first leg in Germany with the absence of star players Neymar and Kylian Mbappe due to injuries.
The French champions, however, benefitted from their return in the second leg as Neymar’s 11th-minute penalty sealed the deal for the French side.
United lead with nine points, followed by PSG in second place, levelled on six points with their-placed RB Leipzig while Başakşehir lie fourth with just three points after four games each.
