JUST IN: Man City get Atletico, Madrid face Chelsea in UCL quarterfinals

Spanish side, Atletico Madrid, have an unfinished business in Manchester when they face reigning Premier League champions, City, in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League.

The 2021/22 UEFA Champions League quarter-final, semi-final and final draws were held on Friday 18 March at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.

Conducted by former Manchester United defender, Mikael Silvestre, Diego Simeone’s side who knocked out the Red Devils will head back to England to face Pep Guardiola’s side who made it to last season’s final against Chelsea.

On the other hand, the defending European champions, Chelsea, have been drawn against 13-time champions Real Madrid in a repeat of last season’s semifinal as Eden Hazard prepares for another reunion with The Blues.

Liverpool will face Benfica who clipped the highflying Dutch champions, Ajax, while, Bayern Munich will slug it out against the giant-slaying Villareal side who knocked out Juventus in the last 16.

Semifinal draw:

Manchester City or Atletico Madrid will face Chelsea or Real Madrid in the first Semi-Final while, Benfica or Liverpool will face Villarreal or Bayern Munich in the second Semi-Final.

S1:

  • Chelsea vs Real Madrid

  • Man City vs Atletico Madrid

S2:

  • Benfica vs Liverpool

  • Villarreal vs Bayern Munich
