Celine Dion has bravely shared a raw and emotional moment from her health battle in her latest documentary, “I Am: Celine Dion,” streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
The documentary includes a 10-minute scene showing the singer suffering a seizure due to her Stiff-Person Syndrome.
In the footage, Celine is seen in distress, crying out and struggling as her body experiences uncontrollable spasms. Medical personnel rush to her aid, attempting to ease her discomfort with a nasal spray.
Reflecting on the painful incident, Celine expressed her feelings of embarrassment, saying, “Every time something like this happens it makes you feel so embarrassed and so, like, I don’t know how to express it, it’s just … you know, like to not have control of yourself.”
The documentary sheds light on the challenges Celine has faced since revealing her SPS diagnosis in 2022, which led to the cancellation of her tour. She also addressed her battle with addiction to Valium, necessary at times to manage her condition and continue performing.
“I Am: Celine Dion” premiered on Thursday, offering viewers a poignant glimpse into the singer’s health journey and her determination to return to the stage despite the obstacles she faces.
The documentary aims to raise awareness about SPS and highlight the personal struggles of living with a chronic health condition, marking a significant chapter in Celine Dion’s career and personal life.
