Published

The renowned “My Heart Will Go On” singer, Celine Dion, is facing a debilitating battle with Stiff-Person Syndrome, and her sister, Claudette Dion, has delivered a heartbreaking update on her condition.

Claudette revealed that Celine has lost control of her muscles due to the rare neurological disorder, causing painful muscle spasms.

Speaking to 7 Jours, Claudette shared the distressing news, expressing how it saddened her because Celine had always been disciplined and hard-working.

She recalled their late mother’s advice to Celine about her habits leading to success.

However, the success that once seemed assured is now under threat due to the challenges posed by SPS.

Despite the grim situation, Claudette affirmed that it remains Celine’s goal to return to the stage.

However, the manner and capacity in which she might do so remain uncertain.

The update follows Celine Dion’s announcement in December 2022, revealing her diagnosis of Stiff-Person Syndrome, which forced her to cancel a significant portion of her Courage world tour scheduled for 2023.

In a video message, Celine shared her struggles with the rare neurological disorder, affecting approximately one or two in a million people.

Celine Dion’s last public appearance was at a hockey game between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Montreal Canadiens in November 2023, where she appeared in good spirits despite her health woes.

Stiff-Person Syndrome is a condition leads to muscle rigidity, spasms, heightened sensitivity to stimuli, and emotional distress.

Research into Stiff-Person Syndrome is ongoing, but progress is slow due to its rarity.

Claudette expressed frustration over the lack of significant advancements, noting that many people facing similar challenges have lost hope of finding a cure.
