Celebrities keep mum as Nigerians react to Invictus Obi’s arrest by FBI
Some Nigerian celebrities who are known to always storm social circles with Forbes-celebrated Nigerian young entrepreneur, Obinwanne Okeke popularly known as Invictus Obi, have been silent since reports of his arrest emerged on the internet.
Viral reports on Friday say Invictus Obi is being charged with conspiracy to commit computer fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud and he was allegedly arrested during a visit to the US by the FBI.
During one of his birthday parties, Banky W, Wizkid and other singers were seen celebrating with Obi and his arrest by FBI have fuelled speculations that Wizkid may have deleted all his Instagram posts over the scandal to clear off any link with Obi.
WuzupNigeria reports that Wizkid deleted all his IG posts on Thursday without giving any reason for doing so.
As Nigerians take to Twitter to react to Obi’s arrest, some Nigerians also condemned the alleged fraudulent act of the entrepreneur, while others called on the Nigerian security agencies to learn from the FBI.
Many have also called out the celebrities for their silence. Citing the case of Naira Marley with the EFCC, social media users claimed the celebrities would have taken to social media to vent their anger and call for his release if he was arrested by local security agencies.

Some also argued that the celebrities are being careful not to soil their names because of the gravity of the allegations levelled against him by the FBI which may hinder some of them from entering the US.
Popular fashion blog Bella Naija has also reportedly deleted a 2018 post where it celebrated Obi as its ‘Man Crush Monday’ (MCM).

This Invictus Obi affidavit shows what I have always been saying that Nigerian 419 fraudsters are basic. Their victims are also basic too. How can a company where CFO can authorize millions of dollars in transfer have no endpoint security and transaction authorization security? pic.twitter.com/ELkvPYQZ5z

On this Invictus Obi case, have you noticed that your regular celebs are not coming online to say “Nobody Holy” … Oh well, that shit only applies when the Nigerian Govt tries to nail fraudsters.
Nobody wants FBI wahala, Looool
Hypocrites.

The Irony about the FBI’s investigation that led to “Invictus Obi” arrest is that;
Invictus claims to have a Master’s in Forensic Criminology and Cyber studies.
But was caught only from his recovery email.

The story of Invictus Obi and Samson Siasia is a message to the Nigeria Police that not only young men with dreads and tattoos commit crimes. People do Yahoo Yahoo with suit & tie too

Invictus Obi – He aspired to inspire, then decided to conspire and now he will perspire because plans don backfire and now FBI don acquire the documents whey dem go use enquire. Forbes list membership don expire and shame don catch una whey dey admire.
The entire case na wahala.

No matter how bad Invictus Obi’s fraud is, it isn’t remotely near what Bernie Madoff or Elizabeth Holmes managed to pull off.
And no, we are not the worst people on earth.
That doesn’t mean we are angels.

Lmao It’s funny to me how Abuja people are surprised at this invictus Obi fraud guy… so all those people buying 12 don p at Moscow you think they work in ministry of Sports??

This Invictus Obi’s story clearly shows that Yahoo Yahoo boys can operate anywhere- even wearing suits. That’s why I hardly believe all these influencers giving Tedx Talks if I can’t trace their sources of income. Most of them do Yahoo as a major side hustle. Run your own race!

On this Invictus Obi saga, Forbes fumbled. Ever since they’ve misused the phrase “self-made billionaire” with Kylie Jenner the Kardashian, I’ve put their integrity under surveillance.
It seems they also have gotten a price tag, and if you have “enough” you can get enlisted. pic.twitter.com/SHbOGjgYpQ

The sad and most painful thing about this Invictus Obi story, is the fact that it is another major stain, and will make it even harder for legit Nigerian remote workers, freelancers, online business persons to get deals and jobs now.
The average Nigerian may not understand…

A lot of lessons to be learnt from the Invictus Obi vs Forbes Saga.
– Not all that glitters is Gold – Never believe all the inspire to aspire inorder to expire nonsense, Believe your Legitimate hustle alone – People will only rate you only when it’s rosy for you. Be smart pic.twitter.com/WoU0j5JdKg

Mr. Obinwanne Okeke had two personalitites
Invictus Obi that aspires to acquire so as to inspire your desire
Then there is Convictus Obi that Acquire your card, so he can wire and build his empire.
Let’s not confuse the two, They caught Convictus Obi not Invictus Obi.

Not only was this Invictus Obi guy on Forbes 30 Under 30, he’s also been on BBC, given a TED Talk, spoke at London School of Economics Africa Summit, was nominated for “Young African Business Leader” at The AABLA Awards, & was a contributor for Forbes.
Yahoo boy with portfolio.

I’m not “justifying” Invictus Obi’s fraud. I’m just letting you know that while Elizabeth Holmes and Bernie Madoff’s fraud will have zero impact on ordinary Americans; Obi’s fraud will have an impact on ordinary Nigerians.
And the reason why is a power asymmetry.
— Onye Nkuzi (@cchukudebelu) August 17, 2019
Invictus obi
When I saw his name on Forbes list of young billionaires I was proud and inspired and thought to myself “another person to follow”. Only to discover now that he is a fraudster ? This is so disappointing and backstabbing. ? pic.twitter.com/ysqjHfR9II

This whole #Invictus obi story reminds me of Noble Igwe’s outburst last year. I remember him calling out many rich people as fraudsters & people trolling him on social media platforms. The chicken has come home to roost.

The apprehension of Invictus Obi is hopefully a notification to the gutter mouthed “rich” businessman/men with obviously dubious “wealth” on here. Your time is near.
