Cavani hands over jersey no.7 to Ronaldo, Man United confirm

Manchester United have confirmed that Edinson Cavani has handed over the iconic no.7 shirt to new signing, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 36-year-old who is returning to the club after 12 years is known to be specially attached to the no.7 shirt which has previously been worn by club icons like George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona and David Beckham.
Ronaldo succeeded Beckham in it,during his first spell between 2003 and 2009, which he made 292 appearances and scored 118 goals.
The Portugues wouldnow inherit the number from Cavani, who wore the shirt last season and in United’s away win at Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.
Nicknamed, El Matador, Cavani will switch to no.21, the same number the prolific striker wears for the Uruguayan national team.
Ronaldo who, won nine trophies including three Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League, has since thanked the Uruguayan for the kind gesture.
“I wasn’t sure if it would be possible to have the number seven shirt again, so I would like to say a huge thank you to Edi for this incredible gesture,” Ronaldo said.
