CARTER BRIDGE! LASWA officials rescue man attempting to drown himself in Lagos lagoon

Less than two weeks after a middle-age man was prevented by the Police from jumping into the Lagos Lagoon, another man has been saved from commiting suicide by jumping into the same sea.

WuzupNaija gathered that Mohammed Jafar, 25, was on Wednesday trying to jump off the Carter Bridge into the lagoon. He was rescued by the officials of Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) and later handed over to the police for further investigation.

The rate of suicide in Nigeria has skyrocketed in recent times. In November 2018, a man who got drown after he reportedly jumped into the lagoon in Lagos. He was later identified as a worker with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria.

In December 2018, a 300 Level student of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Kaduna State, identified simply as Aisha, committed suicide by drinking poison. She left a suicide not behind, blaming her mom and dad for her action.
