American rapper Cardi B has finally released her long-awaited second album, Am I the Drama?, seven years after her Grammy-winning debut Invasion of Privacy.
The 23-track project, which dropped on Friday through Atlantic Records, shot straight to No. 1 on the US iTunes albums chart. It features collaborations with Kehlani, Megan Thee Stallion, Selena Gomez, and music legend Janet Jackson.
Entertainment magazine Rolling Stone gave the album 4.5 stars, noting that it “delivers raw energy and fearless storytelling.”
To mark the release, Cardi B premiered the video for her single Safe and also appeared at an Apple Music event in New York. A world tour has been announced for 2026.
The album release comes at a time when the rapper has made headlines for both personal and legal reasons. On September 17, she confirmed she is expecting a child with New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs after weeks of speculation. Speaking in an interview with CBS, she said, “I’m excited. I’m happy.”
Earlier this month, she also scored a legal win after a Los Angeles jury dismissed a \$24 million civil lawsuit filed by security guard Emani Ellis. Ellis had accused Cardi B of assaulting her outside a medical office in 2018, but after a week-long trial, the jury ruled in the rapper’s favour.
With the new album topping charts, her cleared court case, and news of her pregnancy, the 31-year-old artist, born Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar, is entering what many see as a new and defining phase of her career.
