American rapper Cardi B has publicly addressed fellow rapper Latto after the latter referenced their past fallout on her new track, *Gimme Dat*, saying she had always wanted to make things right between them.

According to People, Cardi reacted in a lengthy post on X after Latto confirmed during an interview on *The Breakfast Club* that lyrics on the song were directed at her.

The dispute stems from a leaked phone call in September 2025 during which Cardi referred to Latto as a “pussy” while discussing another artist.

Responding to the controversy, Cardi admitted she regretted her remarks and explained that emotions got the better of her.

“I truly understand how you feel and that’s exactly why I chose to apologize publicly because the disrespect became public,” Cardi wrote.

“On that call I didn’t even mean to call you that, I didn’t mean any harm. There’s a difference in what I said versus what I meant.”

The Grammy-winning rapper said she was overwhelmed when the recording surfaced and acknowledged that her emotional state did not excuse her comments.

She also revealed that she made several attempts to apologise privately after the incident.

“I spoke with your manager, your sister, and even texted you directly to take full responsibility,” she said.

“I always had love and respect for you. I always wanted to make it right but making it right looks different for the both of us. I wanted to connect with you but you wanted to address it on your album.”

Latto recently reignited discussion about the issue on *Gimme Dat*, rapping, “Talkin’ ’bout buying Big Mama a bag like my n**** ain’t already bought it,” a reference to Cardi’s public apology in which she joked that she would buy Latto a designer bag.

Speaking on *The Breakfast Club*, Latto confirmed the lyric was aimed at Cardi and described the situation as disappointing because she had considered the rapper a friend.

“It’s someone I deadass looked at as a friend,” Latto said.

“I understand this industry first too. But we was on a texting basis.”

The rapper added that although Cardi later reached out, she had already moved on from the situation.

“I’m open to the conversation. When? I don’t know because I got a baby now, life done kept moving,” she said.

Latto also downplayed suggestions that the lyric was intended as a diss, explaining that it reflected what was happening in her life when the song was written.

The exchange has renewed attention on the relationship between the two rappers, who previously collaborated on *ErrTime (Remix)* before the leaked call sparked tensions.
