American rapper Cardi B and her estranged husband, Offset, have welcomed their third child together, a month after Cardi filed for divorce.
The couple, who are already parents to 6-year-old daughter Kulture and 2-year-old son Wave, shared the news on social media.
Cardi B posted photos of the family at the hospital on Instagram, captioning them, “The prettiest lil thing,” and noting the birth date, “9/7/24.”
Cardi announced her pregnancy on August 1, just hours after filing for divorce from Offset. In her announcement, she showed off her baby bump in an Instagram post with the caption, “With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you, you have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my power! Reminded me that I can have it all!”
She continued, “You’ve reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love, and my passion! I love you so much and can not wait for you to witness what you helped me accomplish, what you pushed me to do. It’s so much easier taking life’s twists, turns and test laying down, but you, your brother and your sister have shown me why it’s worth it to push through!”
Cardi B requested primary custody of their children and child support from Offset in her recent divorce filing. The petition stated that the couple had “experienced irreconcilable differences that have caused the breakdown of the marriage” and that “there is no reasonable prospect of reconciliation.”
Cardi B and Offset have had a rocky relationship since they tied the knot in 2017. They first split in 2018 amid cheating rumors but reunited in 2019. They broke up again in 2020, leading to Cardi filing for divorce, which she later dismissed. By 2023, they had separated again, but briefly reunited on New Year’s Eve in 2024.
Speaking about their relationship earlier this year, Cardi told Rolling Stone in May 2024, “We think it through, because we do love each other. It’s not even about love. We’re best friends. And it’s like, ‘OK. Well, there was a time that I didn’t have a best friend, or I didn’t have a support system.’ It’s not even about ‘How do you leave a partner?’ How do you stop talking to your best friend?”
Despite their ups and downs, the couple continues to focus on their family as they navigate this new chapter.
