The PDP youth leader Oyo State, Asiwaju Adekola, has said the party cannot be playing against the umpire at the coming Local Government election.

Adekola made this assertion while speaking at the 8th Day Fidahu prayer for the late youth leader of Afijio Local Government, Alhaji Ganiu Olaniyan.

According to a statement made available by Yinka Ojo, the party’s media coordinator in Oyo West, Adekola said the party had written to the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission on several grey areas and is yet to receive an official response from the commission.

Responding to the position of the opposition party on the forthcoming election, Adekola said

“I can’t say whether we will participate in the May 12 election yet. We wrote the OYSIEC concerning some grey areas, Especially the ward delineations, but they are yet to reply us. It’s obvious that the commission is a part of the APC, so what’s the essence of playing against the referee? We won’t do that.”

He, however, noted that the decision to participate or boycott the forthcoming Local Government election will be taken by the State Executives if and when the OYSIEC replies the party’s questions.

Adekola commiserated with the family of the deceased who was a vibrant grassroots politician in Afijio local government before his death.

“I bring words of condolence from our party leader, Senator Rasheed Ladoja, the state chairman Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha and all the excos. We pray that God will console the family and the party at large”.

The local government election in the state is slated for May 12, 2018 but the PDP is yet to conduct primary elections for her can
