Canadian police declare Nigerian caregiver wanted over alleged assaults

Canadian police have declared a Nigerian national, Oghenemaro Dave Ejerua, wanted over allegations of assault on vulnerable adults at a group home in Toronto.

Mr Ejerua, 38, was declared wanted after officers responded to reports of an assault in the area of Sibley and Detonia Park avenues.

The incident prompted a police investigation into activities at the group home.

In a statement dated December 31, 2025, the police disclosed that the suspect was employed as a caregiver at the facility where the alleged assaults occurred.

“The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a man wanted in an assault investigation,” the statement read.

The police further alleged that Mr Ejerua carried out multiple assaults on residents of the home between November 1 and November 30, 2025.

According to the statement, he is wanted on “seven counts of assault.”
Authorities did not disclose the exact number of victims involved or provide details on the nature of injuries allegedly sustained during the assaults.

The police appealed to members of the public to assist with information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest.

“He is described as 5’8, with a medium build, black curly hair, and black facial hair. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-5500, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), or at www.222tips.com,” the statement stated.
