The Lagos State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria has directed the leadership of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries to undertake a thorough review of how testimonies are shared during church services.

This directive comes in response to widespread backlash against a viral testimony from an unnamed member, who claimed that an elderly man appeared in an examination hall to provide her answers, which she then shared with another candidate from the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries.

The Chairman of Lagos CAN,Bishop Stephen Adegbite, publicly condemned the testimony as “an utter fabrication,” expressing concern over its potential impact on the church’s reputation and teachings.

Speaking during an interview with the PUNCH, he confirmed that a significant meeting was held to address the matter, stating, “We told them to be careful and review the pattern of their testimonies. It is only a madman who would think otherwise.”

The meeting included representatives from all five bloc leaders of CAN and coordinators from 57 Local Government Areas, totaling over 100 attendees.

Adegbite asserted, “We reject vehemently any testimony that is not reasonable and sensible, which can be misleading and bring disrepute to the name of Christ. We reject it in its entirety.”

Emphasizing the need for discernment in church testimonies, he urged church leaders to ensure that members review their stories before sharing them publicly.

“If what they want to say is not good for public consumption, it should be disallowed. God still performs miracles. We must say the truth and nothing but the truth,” he added.

This directive reflects a growing concern within the church regarding the authenticity of testimonies and their influence on the faith community, as leaders work to uphold the sanctity and credibility of their congregations.
