Cameroon motivated to end Salah, Egypt’s AFCON hopes, says coach Antonio Conceiçao

Cameroon’s head coach, Antonio Conceiçao, has revealed that his players are determined and motivated to end Egypt’s dream of an eighth Africa Cup of Nations trophy when they meet in the second semifinal of the competition later today,
The Pharaohs, led by Liverpool ace, Mohammed Salah, bounced back from an opening group match defeat to Nigeria with hosts Cameroon on their path to the final.
A victory for the seven-time champions at the Olembe Stadium in Yaoundé on Thursday would draw them closure to their eighth AFCON trophy with Senegal already in the finals after defeating Burkina Faso 3-1 on Wednesday night.
However, Conceiçao who spoke at a pre-match press conference in Yaounde said his players’ objective is to lift the trophy, a quest that they can’t achieve without first defeating Egypt today.
“Our goal is clear; to play a good game and go to the final.
“We will play against a very good team, Egypt, the most successful team in Africa.
“They have very good players, including one of the best in the world, namely Mohamed Salah.
“My players are motivated to win. We have positive pressure, but our objective is clear, to win the title for the Cameroonian people,” he said.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Cameroonian Midfielder Andre Anguissa corroborated his coach’s statement.
“We are determined to achieve a good result, go to the final and win the title.
“Playing at home is very special for us. We are committed to play this semi-final and go for the title next Sunday, for the Cameroonian people.”
