England women’s football coach Sarina Wiegman got the surprise of her life when Nigerian music star Burna Boy appeared on stage during the Lionesses’ victory parade in London.

The celebration, held in front of Buckingham Palace, came after the Lionesses won the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 tournament for the second time in a row. Thousands of fans filled the streets as the players rode through The Mall in an open-top bus.

Wiegman, who has now won three back-to-back European titles, was visibly shocked when former England star Alex Scott, who hosted the event, announced that Burna Boy would be performing.

With wide eyes and a stunned face, Wiegman shouted into the microphone, “Oh no way,” as Burna Boy walked on stage to loud cheers.

The Grammy-winning singer hugged the coach before performing his hit song “For My Hand” — a track Wiegman earlier revealed was her most played song in 2023.

The Dutch coach, known for her calm and serious nature, let loose on stage, dancing with Burna Boy as the England players laughed, cheered, and captured the moment on their phones.

Leah Williamson, one of the team’s leaders, had earlier told the crowd, “This is one of the best things we’ve been a part of,” while holding back tears during her speech.

Burna Boy was not the only performer at the event. British singer Heather Small also sang her well-known song “Proud,” which the team had played regularly in their dressing room throughout the tournament.

The parade marked a high point in England’s celebration, but Wiegman’s surprise meeting with her favourite musician quickly became the highlight of the day.
