Afrobeats star Burna Boy has denied allegations that he and a group of people attacked DJ Tunez at a recent Lagos party, insisting that he alone was involved and that he gave the DJ only two slaps.
The Grammy-winning artist made the revelation during an Instagram live session, while hanging out with Shallipopi and his crew. He used the platform to explain his side of the altercation that occurred days earlier at Obi Cubana’s residence, popularly known as Obi’s House, in Lagos.
“No be 10 people beat DJ Tunez, na only me and na only two slaps I give am,” Burna Boy said during the live session.
He emphasized his point with an intense oath, swearing on his mother and invoking the god Ogun while referencing Wizkid’s mother.
“I swear with my mama, if I dey lie make Ogun carry my mama go anywhere wey Wizkid mama dey,” he said.
He also reacted to DJ Tunez’s social media activity following the incident. “He come go dey tweet, I think say he go send squad. Na internet their own power dey.”
The altercation reportedly ensued after DJ Tunez, who is known as Wizkid’s official DJ, accompanied Afrobeats superstar D’banj to Burna Boy’s section of the VIP lounge. An argument followed, leading to a scuffle before Burna Boy was quickly dragged away by his security.
Shortly after videos of the incident spread, DJ Tunez reacted on X, alleging that he was attacked from behind. “FIRST OFF… YOU HIT ME IN THE BACK OF MY HEAD WITHOUT ME LOOKING! THAT’S SOME SUCKA SHIT MY BOY!” he wrote.
Wizkid later weighed in with a post on X that appeared to mock Burna Boy. “Pussy nigga jump a DJ with 10 man carry diddy towel dey dance. I never see fool like this diddy babe for my life,” he wrote.
The Nigerian DJ Association has since announced a temporary ban on all Burna Boy songs, directing DJs to remove the artiste from their playlists following the incident.
