The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has said the military and the police have his orders to be ruthless with bandits in the North-west and North-central zones of the country.

Buhari stated this Thursday morning in an interview on Arise TV.

He mentioned that the people of the North-West have developed a culture of killing one another and that has to be stopped. He said they’ll be treated in the language they understood.

He said if people were kept away from their farms there would be starvation.

“The problem in the northwest is people of the same culture killing each other. We’ll treat them in the language they understand. We have given the police and the military power to be ruthless. If we keep people away from their farms, we are going to starve,” the president said.

The President promised to do his best in the remaining two years of his tenure and hoped that he would be judged fairly by Nigerians if he left office.

He said, “I will try to keep convincing Nigerians that I mean very well.”
