The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday held close door meeting with his security chiefs before leaving the country for London on routine medical trip.

This was contained in a statement released by Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu.

“The President meets with Security Chiefs first in the morning, after which he embarks on the journey.

“He is due back in the country during the second week of April, 2021,” he said.

Although the presidential spokesman gave no hint on the agenda of the meeting, political observers believed that it may have something to do with update on the fight against insurgency, banditry and heightened insecurity in the country.

This is the first time the president will be travelling out of the country in 2021.

Recall that Buhari spent over 100 days in the UK for medical reasons in 2017 after leaving for London on May 7.

His prolonged absence led to the calls for him to resign and hand over to his vice Yemi Osinbajo.

His first visit to the UK for the same reason had been in January 2017 and lasted nearly two months.
