Buhari meets Chad’s Interim President
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), is presently in a meeting with the President of Chad’s Transitional Military Council, General Mahamat Idriss Deby, in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Buhari received General Deby in the Presidential Villa at about 11:11 am.
Though the agenda of the meeting is yet to be disclosed as at the time of filing this report, sources suggested it might all be connected to the need for countries sharing borders in the Sahel region to find a permanent solution to the menace of terrorism and arms proliferation threatening the peace and security of the region.
Mahamat Deby took over Chad’s leadership after his father the former President of Chad, Marshal Idris Deby Itno, died of wounds sustained in battle with rebels in April.
