Brother of late actor Chief Kanran reveals final moments before death

The brother of late Nollywood veteran Segun Remi, popularly known as Chief Kanran, Yemi Remi, has opened up about the circumstances surrounding the actor’s unexpected death.

Speaking in a YouTube interview, Remi explained that the actor showed no signs of illness prior to his passing, describing the death as sudden and shocking.

“He wasn’t sick. The Friday before he died, he went for a church programme and people said he danced so well.

He even called me on Thursday and said we’d meet the next day,” Remi recounted.

Recall that Chief Kanran had attended a church event on Friday, August 15, where he appeared lively and joyful. Tragically, that would be his final public appearance.

“It was that Friday that they called me to say that he had died. I now ask what happened. They told me that he slumped in the bathroom. Before they could get to the hospital, he had died,” Remi added.

News of the actor’s death was first shared publicly by film producer Seun Oloketuyi, sparking an outpouring of grief from fans and colleagues in the Nigerian film industry.

Chief Kanran was laid to rest on Friday, September 12, at his residence in Beckley Estate, Abule Egba, Lagos.
