Billionaire industrialist Captain Hosa Okunbo dies of cancer
Edo State industrialist, politician and philanthropist, Captain Hosa Okunbo, is dead.
Okunbo was also the Chairman of Ocean Marine Solutions Limited.
Quoting an authoritative source, TheNewsGuru, reported that Okunbo died on Saturday night at a hospital in London after a protracted battle with pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic cancer occurs when cells in the pancreas (an organ in the abdomen that lies behind the lower part of your stomach) develop mutations in their DNA.
Pancreatic cancer is seldom detected at its early stages when it’s most curable. This is because it often doesn’t cause symptoms until after it has spread to other organs.
The 63 years old Edo billionaire moved to London in August 2020 to receive treatment for his ailment where he was allegedly told he had less than 9 months to live.
Okunbo died 12 months later.
Recall that earlier in January 2021, Okunbo’s family had dispelled his rumoured death which they said emanated when he travelled for his routine medical checkup in the United Kingdom.
The family’s statement had read: “We hereby condemn the rumour that originated from the pit of hell. We state unequivocally that Capt. Hosa Okunbo is well, hale and hearty. God will judge the persons who take delight in peddling fatal wishes on the innocent.
“We take solace in the fact that similar rumours in the past were spread of great men who had always proved the evil intentions of the wicked hearts wrong and invariably lived beyond their expectations.
“Nigerians have not forgotten the case of a former Nigeria’s President, Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe, from whose case we now draw inspiration that Capt. Hosa Okunbo will live to the fullness of his age and beyond, in the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
