Eid-el-fitr: Auchi monarch urges Muslims to pray at home

Saudi Arabia has announced that Sunday, March 30, 2025, will be the first day of Eid Al Fitr, after the Shawwal crescent moon was sighted on Saturday evening.

It also added that Eid al-Fitr will now be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025 to mark the beginning of the new Islamic month.

This disclosure was made on Haramin’s official Facebook page, an official platform for the Muslim community across the world.

“The crescent moon for the month of Shawwal 1446 was sighted in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, Eid Al Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, 2025.”

The Saudi Supreme Court had earlier called on Muslims across the kingdom to look for the new moon, with the Saudi Press Agency confirming its sighting. With this announcement, worshippers in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina will prepare for festive prayers and celebrations marking the beginning of Shawwal 1446 AH.

While Saudi Arabia will observe Eid on Sunday, some countries, including Malaysia, Australia, Brunei, and Indonesia, have announced that their celebrations will take place on Monday, March 31, as the moon was not sighted in those regions.
