UPDATED! One injured as Police, Peace Corps clash in Abuja

Some policemen and officials of the Peace Corps of Nigeria allegedly clashed in Abuja, the nation’s capital, on Tuesday morning.

Trouble started after officials of the corps stormed their headquarters in Abuja to mark the 20th anniversary of PCN.

The officials wore black T.shirt with inscriptions such as ‘We Cry! We Regret!’ ‘ We Mourn The Rule of Law’.

The national commandant of the corps, Dickson Akoh, was addressing them when armed policemen opened fire and released tear gas into the air.

One of the members of the corps was shot in the leg and was rushed to a hospital while many went unconscious following the inhalation of the teargas.

The situation has degenerated as some of the colleagues of the officers are threatening to avenge the brutality committed by the police.
