The Department of State Service (DSS) has released the convener of #RevolutionNow protest Omoyele Sowore, after 125 days in its detention.
Sowore regained his freedom more than three months after he was arrested in Lagos by the DSS.
He was arrested on Saturday 3 August and charged to court by the federal government for planning a nationwide protest tagged #RevolutionNow.
Recall that the DSS had disobeyed different court orders asking it to release Sowore, a presidential candidate in the 2019 general elections.
He was finally released on Thursday evening after the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered his release for the third time.
Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu ordered the DSS to release Sowore and Olawale Bakare within the next 24 hours.
Ojukwu had frowned at the DSS for constituting itself into a parallel court and flouting orders.
She lampooned the DSS for demanding that the sureties of detained human rights activists come forward after she had signed a release warrant.
Sowore is expected to appear in court on Friday for commencement of trial.
