A Brazilian drug lord Clauvino da Silva’s attempt to escape a high-security prison by dressing up as his teenage daughter failed at the weekend as security operatives thwarted his ploy.

Da Silva, 42, who is presently serving a 73-year sentence for drug trafficking, pretended to be his 19-year-old daughter on Saturday to walk out of the front door of Rio’s Gericinó prison, with smooth skin, long black hair and a cute pink T-shirt.

The convicted drug dealer’s amazing get-up was so convincing prison staff only stopped him at the end of visiting time because he started acting too nervously, according to authorities.

Da Silva, known as “Shorty,” was filmed standing awkwardly with his hands behind his back as his wild costume was slowly exposed, starting with officials removing his glasses and a long black wig.

The tattooed inmate then removed his shirt, showing a black bra underneath — and an amazing silicon mask giving him a smooth, teenage complexion.

He had previously escaped Rio’s Gericinó prison in 2013, Brazil’s Globo reported, after fleeing the jail through the sewer, but this time he planned to leave his daughter inside the jail in the western part of Rio de Janeiro, officials say. Police are looking into her possible role as an accomplice as Rio newspaper Extra reported that she would be charged with abetting prison escape, a crime punishable with up to two years in jail.

Another woman who is pregnant and able to avoid being searched is also being probed for potentially smuggling in the outfit, according to local reports.

Authorities say da Silva was part of the leadership of the Red Command, one of the most powerful criminal groups in Brazil that controlled drug trafficking in a large part of Rio.

After the failed escape bid, da Silva was transferred to a special unit of a maximum-security prison and will face disciplinary sanctions, officials said.
