Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, will leave the Spanish club at the end of the 2024/25 season to take up a new job as Brazil’s national team coach.
According to The Athletic, the 65-year-old Italian has already signed a deal with the Brazilian Football Confederation and will officially begin his new role on May 26, just one day after Madrid’s final La Liga match of the season.
This move makes Ancelotti the first foreigner in history to become a permanent head coach of the Brazil national team, also known as the Seleção.
He will be replacing Dorival Junior, who was sacked in March following a 4-1 loss to Argentina in a World Cup qualifier match.
Ancelotti’s time at Real Madrid has been full of success. Since joining the club, he has won several trophies and helped build one of Europe’s strongest teams. His last matches as Real Madrid manager will be against Mallorca (May 14), Sevilla (May 18), and Real Sociedad (May 25).
Fans and players hope he ends his Madrid career on a high note.
Real Madrid is expected to appoint Xabi Alonso, a former Madrid player and current coach of German side Bayer Leverkusen, as their new manager.
Alonso recently confirmed that he will leave Leverkusen at the end of the season, and sources say he is the club’s first choice to lead them into next season and the FIFA Club World Cup in June.
Ancelotti’s move to Brazil has already sparked excitement among Brazilian fans who hope he can return the team to glory ahead of upcoming international tournaments.
