That Nigerians have embraced social media in a way that is probably second to none is no longer news.
Different happenings on Twitter and Facebook always generate social, political and economic conversations in the country and businesses take advantage of it.
However, in the last couple of days, the #KeepTheChangeBae drama has generated a unique kind of opportunity for brands to latch onto.
It began with Firstbank rewarding the lady with a #FirstGem honour, then giving her N5000 because she used the Firstbank app to transfer the money. Then other female-centric businesses caught on to give her one gift or the other. Of course they got their fair share of visibility from it.
