Boko Haram terrorists attack Nigerian troops in broad daylight in Gashigar

No fewer than 13 Nigerian soldiers sustained various degree of injuries on Monday evening when Boko Haram terrorists attacked their location at a border area with Niger Republic.

This was disclosed on Tuesday by Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, the Acting Director Army Public Relations, adding that the attack took place at about 5.30pm in Gashigar, Borno State.

Col. Usman stated that the attack is suspected to be carried out by escaping remnants of the Boko Haram militants.

He added that the Nigerian troops did their best to defend the location but they were over-powered by the terrorists. And as a result, the troops had to withdraw from the location.

“13 soldiers sustained injuries while some are still missing in the process,” the Army spokesman stated in a message he posted on his Facebook page.

According to Col. Usman, the wounded soldiers have been evacuated and and they are receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility.

He concluded that efforts are ongoing in search of the missing soldiers and for them to clear the Boko Haram terrorists at the general area.
