A prominent figure within the Peoples Democratic Party, Bode George, has expressed surprise over the defection of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, to the All Progressives Congress.

Speaking on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, George admitted he did not anticipate the governor’s decision to leave the party, despite several efforts by party elders to maintain internal unity.

“I never saw it at any time. In fact, when Anyanwu was brought back as secretary to complete his assignment, he asked his people not to attend meetings,” George said during the programme.

Governor Mbah officially confirmed his defection to the APC on Tuesday, marking a significant political shift in Enugu State.

While George extended his best wishes to the governor, he maintained that the PDP remains resilient in the face of recent defections.
