The daughter of well-known human rights lawyer Femi Falana, Folakemi Falana, has responded strongly to accusations involving her family and Nigerian socialite Bobrisky.
These claims include bribery and corruption, which Folakemi called baseless.
In a statement on her Instagram page on Friday, Folakemi insisted that her father has never met or spoken to Bobrisky. She said Bobrisky only contacted her brother, Falz, for financial help to stay in a VIP section of prison and did not ask for a presidential pardon.
Folakemi shared documents showing that her father’s law firm, Falana & Falana, has been applying for presidential pardons for people for free since 2016. She emphasized that anyone can request a pardon in Nigeria.
She expressed her frustration with Nigerians who quickly believe false accusations. “It’s crazy that some Nigerians act like they can’t read or think for themselves. It’s unfortunate,” she said.
Folakemi also addressed claims about her brother, stating, “For him to have the audacity to accuse Falz of being homosexual and having an affair with Bobrisky is wild. The fact that some of you believe it is what is blowing my mind.”
She made it clear with three points:
1. “My dad has never met or talked to Bobrisky.”
2. “Bobrisky reached out to Falz asking for money to afford VIP prison accommodation. He never discussed a presidential pardon.”
3. “Do you think my dad or Falz need Bob’s money? For what?”
Folakemi condemned the allegations as unfounded and warned the accuser, VeryDarkMan (VDM), saying, “Seeing as you have refused to do the needful, #verydarkblackman see you in court.”
This comes after VDM released audio recordings suggesting that Bobrisky claimed Femi Falana and Falz had contacted him before his release from prison and that a settlement of 10 million naira was arranged. In response to these allegations, Falz gave VDM a 24-hour ultimatum to remove all defamatory statements.
