Blackout hits parts of Imo, Abia

Several areas in Imo and Abia states have been experiencing a power outage due to a disruption at the Alaoji Transmission Company of Nigeria Station.

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company confirmed the development in a statement issued on Saturday by its Head of Corporate Communications, Emeka Ezeh.

He explained that the blackout started at 7:45 am on Thursday and has affected customers in New Owerri, Owerri Urban, Owerri Rural, Orlu, Mbaise, and parts of Umuahia.

Ezeh said the EEDC is yet to receive an explanation from the TCN regarding the cause of the outage.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconveniences this situation must have caused our esteemed customers and appeal for their understanding while hoping that the issue is resolved soon, to enable us restore supply to our affected customers,” he stated.

The blackout has disrupted daily activities in the affected areas, with residents expressing concerns over the prolonged outage.

The EEDC assured its customers that it is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as they become available.
