At least one person was killed and five others left in critical condition after a black Toyota Highlander lost control at Amje bus stop in Ajegunle axis of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
An eyewitness said that while driving from toll gate, the driver identified as one Akinola Sulaimon rammed the SUV with Registration Number BDG 654 DC into some shops at Amje area around 3.00pm on Sunday.
When contacted, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu confirmed the incident and told WuzupNigeria that the driver is presently in custody.
“As a result of the auto crash, one female victim, Simisola Abedoye died while five others were critically injured. The injured victims were immediately taken to the General Hospital, Ota, Ogun State where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
“The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue of the same hospital for autopsy.
“Efforts are being made to recover the vehicle involved in the crash,” he said.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi has directed that a speedy but thorough investigation into the accident should be carried out, even as he expresses condolence to the family of the deceased.
