Warm birthday wishes pour in for Rihanna as she turns 31

Warm birthday wishes have been pouring in for Barbadian singer and songwriter, Rihanna, from fans across the world as she turns 31-years-old today (February 20).

The global music sensation, who broke into international limelight in 2005 as a 17-year-old pop star, has continued to dominate the music world globally for over a decade.

Her iconic “Umbrella” (ella-ella, eh-eh-eh) released in 2007, featuring Jay-Z, was no doubt the ubiquitous smash hit track that further gave her the global recognition she enjoys till today.

In 2007, Rihanna had her first Grammy Awards nominations, as well as her first win, for best rap/sung collaboration. She has however won 9 Grammy Awards, 12 Billboard Music Awards, 13 American Music Awards (including the Icon Award), and 7 MTV Video Music Awards.

Over the years, Riri, as she is fondly called, has expanded her dominance from music to film, TV, fashion, art, and charity which won her the Harvard University’s Humanitarian of the Year award in 2017.

As an outstanding ambassador of Barbados, who has contributed immensely to the nation through her art and philanthropic gestures, on the country’s independence day (November 30) 2017, Barbados Prime Minister held a ceremony renaming the street the star grew up on from Westbury New Road to Rihanna Drive.

As she turns 31 today, Rihanna enjoys the euphoria that comes with being one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet, through the outpouring of wishes from organizations and fans across the world.
