#BiafraHeroesDay2021: Tweeps remember fallen heroes

On the 30th of May, 1967, Lt Colonel, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu announced the separation of Biafra from Nigeria.

This declaration led to the Civil war of (1967-1970). The bloody war took the lives of so many people in the old eastern region.

Reports have it that 0ver 500,000 people died and the ones that didn’t die, suffered starvation with women and children as the highest casualties.

Since then, May 30 has been a historic day for the country, especially for citizens from the South East.

Remembering this day with #BiafraHeroesDay2021, @beingUzosike spoke on how his uncle went to war and never came back.

“I will never forget the ultimate price my uncles paid… I never met them but was told that they didn’t return from the war. I remember them today and may the almighty continually shower the light of his countenance upon them. #BiafraHeroesDay2021”

Onwubiko Uche another tweep with the handle, @OnwubikoUche1 said the day is marked to remember history.

“The birth of a new Nation, May 30 1967, hostilities started June 6th 1967, History is important so we won’t make the same mistake our predecessor made. #BiafraHeroesDay2021”

@bashkayy stated that heroes are meant to be remembered.

“We Remember our Heroes… forever in our heart. To live and die in Biafra #BiafraHeroesDay2021”

Maҳwҽɭɭ Chuks, another tweep with handle, @realMaxwellC said they paid the ultimate sacrifice without been asked to, so they ought to be remembered.

“No one had to ask them, they just knew they had to go, to defend motherland, to fight for freedom. They sacrificed their noble life so that we can all be free. They’re heroes! Forever we’ll remember them, we’ll honour them, & never to forget. #BiafraHeroesDay2021 “

One Comrade Mazi okey ( Aku Nwata) with handle @ojiemeka1 applauded fathers, uncles and those who picked up arms to fight for our survival.

He wrote;
“Today I salute my father, uncles and those who picked up arms to fight for our survival. I honor my late grandpa and those who are no longer with us who fought to defend our land, God keep your soul forever. God bless Biafrans Remembering May 30th. #BiafraHeroesDay2021”
