TikTok has announced ‘Wasiu Ayinde’ by Nigerian singer BhadBoi OML as its number one Song of the Summer for 2025, after the track dominated feeds and inspired viral challenges across the platform.
Toyin Mustapha, TikTok’s Head of Music Partnerships for the UK, Ireland, and Sub-Saharan Africa, said in a statement that BhadBoi’s album, *Bhadboi*, gained massive traction for its rich blend of modern pop and traditional Yoruba Fuji elements.
He said the song’s success shows how Nigerian artists continue to shape global Afrobeats by fusing local culture with contemporary sounds.
“TikTok is where music truly comes to life,” Mustapha said. “It’s a space where songs are discovered, artists grow, and opportunities open up in ways that were not possible before.”
He explained that the top ten trending songs of the summer reflected Nigeria’s diverse soundscape, ranging from high-energy anthems by stars like Davido, Olamide, and Rybeena, to gospel-inspired hits and collaborations across Africa, including South Africa and Uganda.
Among the top collaborations on the list were “99” by Olamide, Seyi Vibez, Asake, Young Jonn, and Daecolm; “With You” by Davido and Omah Lay; and “Gaddem” by Rybeena and Shoday.
Mustapha also noted that Amapiano’s influence remained strong, with “Ngishutheni” by Goon Flavour, Master KG, and Eemoh ranking high among Nigerian listeners.
He said that TikTok users also showed love for emotional and soulful songs like Chella’s “My Darling,” which found viral success through dance and lifestyle content.
“The 2025 Songs of the Summer list highlights TikTok’s growing role in bringing local artists and sounds to a global audience,” Mustapha said. “It proves that Nigerian creativity continues to shape the future of music and online culture.”
