The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has issued a stern warning against the unauthorized use of his office to distribute fake appointments to the public.
The caution comes in response to reports of fraudulent activities involving the SGF’s office, where unscrupulous individuals exploit unsuspecting Nigerians.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Head of Information at the Office of the SGF, Mr. Segun Imohiosen, conveyed Akume’s message.
The SGF clarified that the warning was prompted by the circulation of false appointment information through social media, emails, text messages, and other platforms, where individuals are deceived into submitting their Curriculum Vitae at a fee for non-existent positions.
Akume emphasized the deceptive tactics employed by the culprits, including the use of the name of the former Director of Information, Willie Bassey, and aliases such as Aliyu Isah, with contact numbers +234 9168487156 and +234 8035557865, along with the email address draliyu95@gmail.com.
“The general public is by this notice advised to be wary of the perpetrators of these dubious activities and their cohorts and disregard such information being peddled around,” Akume stated.
He further urged individuals seeking clarification or making official inquiries to use the established communication channels of the Office of the SGF: “Any official enquiry and clarification should follow the official communication channels of the OSGF via www.osgf.gov.ng and info@osgf.gov.ng.”
The SGF cautioned those involved in these fraudulent activities to immediately cease using his office for such purposes. Akume emphasized that failure to comply would result in legal consequences.
This warning follows a similar caution issued by the SGF earlier in the month to alert the public about the ongoing scam involving fake appointments purportedly originating from his office.
