Karim Benzema has expressed optimism that his French compatriot, Kylian Mbappe, would end up playing for Real Madrid one day.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward was strongly linked with a move to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu but Los Blancos were health a blow by PSG.
According to reports, the Parisian giant failed to respond to Madrid on deadline day after the Spanish giant tendered a whooping offer of €200m.
However with his contract at PSG set to expire on June 30, 2022, Benzema is convinced that the 22-year-old would player for Madrid one day or another.
“He is a player who one day or another will play for Real Madrid. We get on very well and I would like him to already be with me in Madrid,” said Benzema to RTL after France’s 1-1 draw against Bosnia, in which Jules Kounde got sent off.
Marca quoted Benzema during his first press conference upon his return to the French national team as saying, “I don’t know what will happen [with his future], but Mbappe would be welcome at Real Madrid. He is a player who has all the qualities to be a Real Madrid player in the future.”
Madrid would have to be patient in their pursuit of the Frenchman as they can enter into pre-contract talks with the Frenchman from January if no fresh terms are agreed at PSG, according to Goal.
