Grammy Award-winning singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has expressed pride in her body and identity as a Black woman.

During an intimate interview with Cocoa Butter in Atlanta, Georgia, the 29-year-old Nigerian singer opened up about her physical features and cultural influences.

Reflecting on her favorite aspects of being a Black woman, Tems shared her appreciation for her body shape.

“I love being curvy. I love that I have a little booty, you know what I’m saying?” she said with a smile. She described her figure as a blessing and one of the many reasons she feels grateful for her heritage.

The Oscar-nominated artist also spoke about her distinctive fashion style, revealing that her bold choices are deeply influenced by her Nigerian roots. “I’m definitely into details. I’m definitely into the bling,” she enthused.

“I think Nigerians are very extravagant in everything and I’m very into that. But I always put my own spin and I’m not afraid to be who I am.”

Renowned for her authenticity and soulful vocals, Tems has become a symbol of cultural pride and inspiration for fans across the globe. Her rise to fame continues to spotlight African excellence and self-expression.

Born on June 11, 1995, in Lagos, Tems’ first name, Temilade, translates to “the crown is mine” in Yoruba. As a child, she moved to the United Kingdom with her family before returning to Nigeria at age five following her parents’ separation.
