Reality TV star and actor Pere Egbi has voiced his views on the current state of film production across Africa, highlighting the progress of South Africa’s film industry compared to Nigeria’s Nollywood.
Egbi, known for his appearance on Big Brother Naija, took to Twitter to express that while Nollywood continues to grow and attract global attention, South Africa has made significant strides in areas such as storytelling, filmmaking, and professional standards. He emphasized the need for increased collaboration between the two countries to elevate African cinema as a whole.
“No offense to my Nollywood colleagues but you see South Africa, they are ahead of us o when it comes to film production, story telling, film making, work ethics, name it. They are ahead. We need to collaborate!” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian actor Mawuli Gavor has shared insights into his decision to leave a corporate career at the global accounting firm KPMG in favor of a path in entertainment.
Speaking on the Blackvolta Podcast, Gavor revealed that he initially attempted to juggle both professions, attending modelling and photoshoot sessions early in the morning before heading to work. At the time, he was earning 770 cedis per month and found it increasingly difficult to manage the pressures of both careers.
