Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Adekunle Olopade, has spoken out in defense of the Season 10 contestants following the circulation of intimate videos that sparked outrage on social media.
Addressing the controversy in a statement shared online, Adekunle called for restraint from viewers, urging Nigerians not to rush to condemn the housemates.
Drawing from his own experience in the BBNaija house, he noted that the contestants are adults and have not violated any rules by expressing mutual attraction.
The backlash erupted after two separate clips went viral. One featured housemates Koyin and Isabella appearing to engage in intimate activity under the duvet after the Saturday night party.
Another showed Jason Jae and Sultana in a position many viewers interpreted as an “oral act” during the Friday night wager presentation.
While these clips have sparked criticism from some viewers, Adekunle described the outrage as hypocritical and misplaced.
He argued that the housemates were being unfairly image-shamed for actions that are common behind closed doors in society.
“So, because consenting adults ON A RATED 18 show who are clearly attracted to each other get intimate, that’s why you guys are coming up with all these think pieces? The hypocrisy I’ve seen this week alone is laughable. What do you guys really think happens when adults are left together in a confined space? Please let’s be real,” he wrote.
He further criticized those condemning the show, suggesting that many of the critics likely engage in similar or worse behavior privately. “The gag in all of this is, the people who are pointing fingers and quick to accusations actually do much worse, with multiple people infact,” he added.
