Former Big Brother Naija star, Ijeoma Josephina Otaboral also known as Phyna, has taken legal action against Multichoice over unpaid fees.
In a letter dated May 22, 2024, addressed to the Managing Director/CEO of Multichoice Nigeria Limited, Phyna’s legal representatives demanded payment of her outstanding winnings.
The letter, signed by Excelsior Legal Consult, stated, “We act as Solicitors to the Incorporated Trustees of the Practitioners of Content Creating, Skitmaking and Influencers Guild of Nigeria representing the interests of its esteemed Member, Ms. Ijeoma Josephina Otabor A.K.A Phyna.”
It continued, “It is with dismay that we observe that, even two (2) years after ‘Phyna’ was crowned as the Winner of the season, you have failed to live up to your obligation to provide her with the outstanding item from her winnings – 1 BTC, which was widely publicized by you as part of the gifts due to the Winner of the season.”
The legal representatives highlighted a previous meeting where Multichoice officials acknowledged the outstanding prize but offered to pay the equivalent in Naira, which Phyna rejected. They insisted on the payment of the promised 1 BTC.
In a recent social media post, Phyna called out Multichoice over their announcement about the start of the 2024 BBNaija show.
She expressed frustration over not receiving all the prizes and money promised to her for winning the show in 2022.
Despite her criticism, she clarified that she didn’t want to appear ungrateful but hoped for the best resolution.
Multichoice is yet to respond to Phyna’s legal action or her social media post.
