BBNaija: My words were taken out of context – Seyi Awolowo
In a recent exclusive live interview, Seyi Awolowo, a former housemate of the Big Brother Naija Allstars, addressed the controversial comments he made during his time on the reality TV show.
The interview was conducted by social media influencer @dhayourcreme.
Seyi was asked about the controversial comments he made while in the house, which received heavy criticism for suggesting that he would encourage his sons to “run train” on people’s daughters.
A phrase that implies multiple men having sex with a woman one after the other, with or without consent.
This comment was seen as promoting rape culture and objectifying women, leading to widespread condemnation from viewers and social media users.
Seyi defended his comments, stating, “Let’s tell ourselves the truth, my words were taken out of context.”
He challenged the perception of being a misogynist and suggested that people were quick to misinterpret his words.
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency had previously condemned Seyi’s comment, calling it “harmful” and “contributing to a culture of violence and abuse.”
Despite the controversy, Seyi revealed his plans to pursue an entertainment career, including film production and attending film school. He expressed his desire to make a positive impact in the industry.
In closing, Seyi thanked his fans for their support throughout his journey on Big Brother Naija. He urged everyone to demand respect while promoting peace and love.
