Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane has received the European Golden Shoe for the second time after finishing as Europe’s leading domestic-league goalscorer with 36 Bundesliga goals during the 2025/26 season.

According to the Bundesliga, the 33-year-old collected the award at a special ceremony in Munich on Wednesday after accumulating 72 points in the Golden Shoe standings.

Kane finished comfortably ahead of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, who earned 54 points, and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe, who finished with 50.

Kane celebrates second European crown

The latest honour is Kane’s second European Golden Shoe after he also claimed the award following his debut Bayern Munich season in 2023/24.

Remarkably, the England captain scored 36 Bundesliga goals in both of his Golden Shoe-winning campaigns.

Speaking after receiving the award, Kane thanked his Bayern teammates, coaches and staff for their contribution to his success.

“I would first like to thank all the Bayern players, coaches and staff, without whom I would not be standing here,” Kane said.

He described the 2025/26 campaign as the best season of his career and expressed his determination to continue improving.

“It’s been an extraordinary season; we can all be very proud. This is a very special team. I think it’s been the best season of my career,” he said.

Luca Toni hails Kane as ‘goal machine’

Former Bayern Munich and Italy striker Luca Toni was among more than 60 guests at the ceremony held at the FC Bayern Museum inside the Allianz Arena.

Toni praised Kane’s all-round qualities and described him as a striker who creates opportunities rather than simply waiting for chances inside the penalty area.

“You are a goal machine,” Toni told Kane.

He added that the England captain had raised the standards expected of modern strikers and backed him to challenge for more major individual honours.

Toni also said Kane deserved to win the Ballon d’Or following his performances for Bayern.

Bayern chiefs praise Kane’s influence

Bayern Munich chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen said Kane’s importance to the German champions extended beyond his goals.

Dreesen described the striker as a world-class player with exceptional consistency and character.

Bundesliga managing director Marc Lenz also praised Kane’s impact since moving to Germany, saying the England international was on course to define an era in the competition.

Kane joins elite Bayern company

Kane has now joined a small group of Bayern players to win the European Golden Shoe twice.

Club legends Gerd Müller won the award in 1970 and 1972, while Robert Lewandowski claimed it in 2021 and 2022.

Kane’s second triumph also places him among an exclusive group of multiple Golden Shoe winners, although Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo remain ahead in the overall standings.

The award, presented by European Sports Media, recognises the leading goalscorer across Europe’s domestic leagues using a points system weighted according to league strength.

Kane will now turn his attention to the new season as he looks to maintain his prolific scoring form and potentially challenge for a third European Golden Shoe.
