Bayelsa polls: Diri hired spices to monitor me, Timipre Sylva alleges

The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, has alleged that the state governor, Senator Douye Diri, has deployed spies around the state to monitor his movement.
Sylva made the allegation in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Julius Bokoru.
According to Bokoru, credible intelligence available to him revealed that the spies operating across the state, especially the Bayelsa International Cargo Airport, were asked to record and report the former governor’s movements in the state to some off-grid security architecture in Bayelsa.
“Credible reports available to H.E Chief Timipre Sylva, Governorship Candidate of the APC in Bayelsa State suggests that Gov. Douye Diri has commissioned spies across the state, especially at the Bayelsa International Cargo Airport, to document and report Chief Sylva’s movements in Bayelsa and environs to some off-grid security architecture in the State.” The statement read in part
Bokoru also alleged that the spy activities were being coordinated by a close security aide of the governor to compromise Sylva’s convoy.
He appealed to the security agencies and members of the public to take note of Diri’s alleged strategy of violence against Sylva and the people of Bayelsa with a special focus on Opu-Nembe.
Sylva noted that instead of taking up the strategy of commissioning and inaugurating projects for electioneering campaigns like other serving governors seeking reelection, Diri had allegedly resorted to desperation, violence and underhand practices following his failure in office.
The Bayelsa State Government has not yet responded to Sylva’s allegations.
