The Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that all intending pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj must receive polio vaccination as a prerequisite for travel.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, the board’s Executive Secretary, Abdulrahman Idris, stated that the 2,200 registered pilgrims must take the vaccine at least six weeks before departure.
He emphasized that those who fail to comply will not be allowed to embark on the pilgrimage.
According to Idris, the directive was issued by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, as part of efforts to safeguard the health of Nigerian pilgrims.
He also confirmed that Hajj registration for 2025 has officially closed, adding that travel documents, uniforms, bags, and other essential items will be ready in two weeks.
Pilgrims who have not yet submitted their passport photographs with a white background were urged to do so promptly to facilitate visa processing. Idris also called for cooperation from intending pilgrims to ensure a smooth and successful Hajj operation.
Meanwhile, those who have yet to complete their Hajj fare payment have been given the option to either collect their money or leave it in the board’s account for the next pilgrimage year.
