The Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, has received full approval to begin eight new academic programmes.

The National Board for Technical Education gave the accreditation, which means the polytechnic now has 100 per cent approval for all its courses.

This was made known in a statement on Wednesday, May 14, by the school’s Director of Information, Public Relations and Protocol, Rabi’u Wada.

“This landmark achievement affirmed the academic excellence and institutional quality of the Institution,” Wada said.

He explained that the NBTE’s letter, signed by the Director of Polytechnic Programmes, Fatima Umar, confirmed that the polytechnic can now offer the eight new programmes.

“This further expands our academic portfolio in response to emerging national needs and global trends,” the statement added.

The newly approved programmes include:

HND in Crime Management
HND in Cooperative Economics and Management
HND in Taxation
HND in Cybersecurity and Data Protection
HND in Artificial Intelligence
HND in Strategic Communication and Media Studies
HND in Film and Multimedia Production
ND in Urban and Regional Planning

Wada said that while the NBTE praised the school’s efforts, it also listed some areas the school needs to work on. These include better funding, improved buildings, and modern equipment. He noted that the school has already started working on these things to meet NBTE’s standards.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Sani Usman, said the approval shows that the institution is ready to provide top-quality technical and vocational education.

He added, “These new programmes show our commitment to growing in digital technology, media innovation, economic development, and urban planning.”
