The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission has suspended three senior officials over allegations of serious misconduct.

The suspension, which took effect on September 27, 2024, was announced in a statement by the commission’s Information Officer, Saleh Umar, on Monday.

The suspended officials are Sa’idu Abubakar and Danjuma Garba, both Permanent Secretaries, and Bala Ibrahim Sabo, Chief Executive Officer (Account). They are affiliated with the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Ministry of Natural Resources.

The decision to suspend them was made during the commission’s first extraordinary meeting of the year. According to the press release, the commission reviewed documents and recommendations submitted by the Office of the State Head of Civil Service, which called for disciplinary action.

“The Commission reviewed the recommendations and other documents on the affected officers submitted by the Office of the State Head of Civil Service, which recommended appropriate disciplinary actions,” the statement read.

The suspension was carried out under Section 0331 of the Bauchi State Public Service Regulations to allow for further investigation, as the case is currently being handled by the relevant authorities.

The Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, stressed the importance of following public service regulations and reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to maintaining order within the state’s civil service. “We urge all State Public/Civil Servants to conduct themselves in accordance with established rules,” Usman said.

The commission is determined to ensure that public servants in Bauchi State adhere to the highest standards of conduct.
